A brief analysis on the difference between optical fiber lighting and LED lighting

Fiber optic lighting is a new lighting method in recent years. As a result of the optical fiber itself has some unique physical properties, fiber optic lighting are used in interior decoration lighting, effect of local lighting, billboard lighting, direct lighting, indoor and outdoor building outdoor public area underwater lighting and building outline and the facade lighting, and have achieved good lighting effect. The optical fiber lighting system consists of light source, reflector, filter and optical fiber. When the light source passes through the reflector, an approximate parallel beam is formed. Because of the loss of light in the road, the light source is usually very strong. The common light source is about 150~250W. The former is that the beam passes to the end point and is illuminated by the taillight, while the latter is the luminescent body itself, forming a flexible optical column. As for optical fiber materials, it must be within the range of visible light, the light energy should be the minimum loss to ensure the lighting quality. But in fact, it is impossible without loss, so the optical fiber transmission distance of about 30m is the best.

  

LED lighting is a kind of semiconductor that can transform electric energy into visible light. It changes the principle of incandescent lamp's tungsten filament and energy-saving lamp's tri-base color powder. It has the following characteristics:

1. Voltage: LED USES low-voltage power supply, and the power supply voltage is between 6-24v, which varies according to the product, so it is a safer power source than high-voltage power supply.

2. Efficiency: the energy consumed is 80% less than that of incandescent lamps with the same photoeffect.

3. Applicability: each unit LED chip is 3-5mm square, so it can be prepared into devices of various shapes and is suitable for variable environments.

4. Stability: 100,000 hours, 50% of the initial optical decay.

5. Response time: the response time of its incandescent lamp is millisecond, and that of LED lamp is nanosecond.

6. Environmental pollution: no harmful metallic mercury.

7. Color: the color can be changed by changing the current, and the led can easily adjust the energy band structure and band gap of the material through chemical modification, so as to achieve multi-color luminescence of red, yellow, green and blue orange.

8. Price: the price of leds is relatively high, and the price of a few leds can be comparable to that of an incandescent lamp, which usually consists of 300 to 500 leds per set of lights.
